A product of the Howe of Fife club, George has represented Scotland at under-17 and under-18, and Caledonia at under-16, under-17 and under-18 levels. The former pupil of Bell Baxter HS and Strathallan School is currently studying for a BEd in Physical Education Teaching at Edinburgh University.

He made his Scotland under-20 debut off the bench in the defeat away to Italy, in February 2014.

His brother, Peter, plays for Glasgow Warriors, his dad Garry coaches the first XV at Howe of Fife and mum, Hazel, is a tennis coach; George was also in the Scottish national tennis squad at under-12 leve
