ON PAPER, the clash between Aberdeen GSFP and Glasgow Hawks was meaningless in terms of Premiership pecking order - but both sides served up a feast of slick attacking rugby at Countesswells as champions Hawks won 22-10.
Departing Hawks coach Peter Wright had ordered his troops to go out and enjoy themselves after making sure of retaining the title a month earlier. And as a tribute to the former Scotland hero, they produced a brilliant display. Their tries came from Steve Duffy, Mark Sitch and Matt Smith.
Murray Strang completed the triumph against his old club by landing two conversions and an opportunist drop goal. Dan Teague went over for Aberdeen’s consolation try, with skipper Rod Seib adding a conversion and penalty
