Glasgow Hawks 24-13 Edinburgh Accies

Despite tough weather conditions this was a competitive , physical battle which Hawks won comfortably in the end. Forwards put in huge shift, won the breakdown battle , headed by the ageless Gerry Hawkes!! Great scrum work set platform and helped put EA’s attacking threats under pressure all day.
Brecko showcased almost all his skills in bagging 19 points !   EA defence caught out after 6mins when Brecko chipped through , inside the 22m , and deftly/conservatively gathered bounce and flopped over. Chris converted own try . EA put lot of pressure on with slight wind advantage and quality kicker slotted 2 pens. 7-6 after 17mins.
Hawks started to move ball well into wind and  several attacks down left wing only stopped by  desperate defence. Chris kicked a penalty for offside after 26mins, 10-7.
No more scores in half , but Hawks created chances and impressed with physicality and work rate.
EA dominated start of 2nd  half but superb fringe defence led by John Lohoar, Davie Ferg , Scotty Cameron et al kept line intact and any runners breaking thru’ dealt with by great cover tackles from Ruaridh.
Hawks weathered storm and set up great attacking position for Brecko to glide under posts and slot conv, 17-6.  EA's defence caught out by absence of Hollywood pass to wing! Pressure increased from Hawks and from turnover Brecko held up defence well before putting Hitman Hawkes  away for clinching score.  Brecko’s last kick made it 24-6 and a real MOM performance.
EA thru’ everything at defence in last 10mins and go reward when centre broke thru’ for consolation. Final 24-13.
