As the post mortems gather pace pause ---at least our current breed of caps didn't have to worry about getting to the game

When Jimmie Ireland(who gave his name to the OA Stand) was  selected to make his Calcutta Cup debut v England at Murrayfield in 1925 he had to ask his boss at the Singer Factory in Clydebank for time off work - players usually  worked on Saturday mornings then
His boss replied "do you really need to take a whole day?"
