Info to hand at present time
General info as below. I am linking in with Grant Talbot to visit one or two of his community programme schools in the morning. May just be one of his schools ( poss Scotstoun or Drumchapel) as time is tight due to RBS having the trophy in their Byres Road Branch from 11.15 - 3.00 pm.
The evening reception is an open event and as such there could be good very good numbers if there is also a Hawks game on. If the game is not on, I would also be keen to encourage as many Hawks supporters and players ( may not be practical due to training timing) and friends to come along. The more the merrier .
Info:
In recognition of GHK's 1st XV and general club performance, RBS as sponsors of the 6 Nations Rugby competition, have offered us the opportunity to have the trophy displayed at the club and associated locations of our choice on Thursday 23rd February. It is part of their outreach programme and the trophy will be toured throughout the UK and we are one of only around 6 clubs in Scotland to be approached.
As part of wider schools/community participation (linked with Hawks) we are arranging for the trophy to visit local schools, where Grant Talbot has been working to encourage rugby participation .
The trophy will also be taken to both Kelvinside and The High School as part of the GHK heritage.
The trophy will then make its way to the Jimmie Ireland Stand in the evening for a reception, where the GHK mini p6 team will be playing an exhibition/training game as part of the event .
There will be a reception in the Jimmie Ireland Stand from 6.00 - 8.30 pm which will involve the p6 game at c 6.30 for 20 mins and a Q+A session with Andy Nicol and Gordon Bulloch at 7pm.
The bar in the JI Stand will be open and in true rugby fashion there will be a pie to go with the pint !
I am keen that there is good GHK turnout and support for this event in the Stand and would ask that you put it in your diary. Please also feel free to bring along other friends and rugby enthusiasts who would enjoy the opportunity . The event is open to all.
RBS will have an official photographer with them and this would be an excellent opportunity for one for the mantlepiece/ office reception etc !
There is no charge for the event.
Please spread the word - thanks.
Ewan Cameron
