EXPERIENCED SIDE NAMED FOR CLUB INTERNATIONAL OPENER
Tuesday, 21 February 2012
Scotland Club International head coach Ally Donaldson has today named one debutant in his starting line-up to play the XV of France on Friday night in Ayr (kick-off 7.30pm).
Lee Millar, the Gala stand-off will be supported by an experienced outfit for the team’s first outing of the season. The side will be captained by Boroughmuir hooker, Sean Crombie.
The side welcomes the cream of the Premiership with the number 15 shirt being given to Fraser Harkness of Selkirk (RBS Premier C); Dean Kelbrick and Rory McKay are welcomed in at centre and lock respectively from Glasgow Hawks as well as Alan Dymock and Fraser Brown from Heriot’s featuring at prop and on the bench respectively (RBS Premier B).
The remaining 19 players have been selected from all the RBS Premier A clubs.

Donaldson said: “The Club International framework is a great opportunity for the best of Scotland’s club players to show what they can do and to use it as a potential stepping stone to further rugby prospects.
“This year we are welcoming back a number of experienced players who have been involved before. The players’ commitment has been first-class so far, they have taken days off work and put in a massive effort for our training matches both as the Club international and Co-optimists.
“We don’t know a great deal about the French side but we are completely focused on getting our game plan right and putting in the best performance we can.”
This is the first time the Club International will run out at Millbrae but with the match FREE to attend for everyone, the side are anticipating a big crowd to get behind them on Friday night.
Donaldson continued: “I have been to Millbrae a number of times while coaching Currie, and Ayr always have a great support getting behind them. I hope as many people to come down and enjoy some exciting rugby.”
