Whilst the eyes of the athletics world were fixed on the London Marathon an eclectic mix of athletics talent assembled for the Balfron 10K
A mix that included the youthful exuberance of GHK coach Kenny Hamilton the considerable presence of Glasgow Accie, British Lion and BBC Sportsnation supremo John Beattie and a runner with a true athletics pedigree Rhona Macleod formerly of Glasgow Athletic Club who has travelled in some very good company more suited to the explosiveness of track and field competition
Initial reports confirm Kenny Hamilton clocked in the region of 54 min over a testing course holding off a strong challenge from the Sportnation duo of Rhona Macleod and John Beattie
The field also included the remarkable Dave McRae who has won 105 caps for British Paralympic volleyball team after 10k.Kenny modestly said"For first time I was in front of him! But that's because he had a calf injury - in his good leg!"
