The Southern Reporter reveals
PEEBLES RFC have announced the appointment of Peter Wright as their new Head Coach with immediate effect.
Director of Rugby, Graeme Paterson, said: “Peebles RFC have carried out a recruitment process in order to secure the services of a top class head coach to manage the clubs plans to return to National League rugby.
“We are delighted with the response from interested parties and can now confirm that Peter Wright has been appointed to the role.”
Wright is an outstanding coup for the recently demoted club and Paterson added: “With a wealth of experience both at club and National Age Grade levels we are confident that Peter’s style and skills will enable this squad to progress to the required level to achieve our aims.
“Everyone at the club is looking forward to working with Peter and I believe it shows a statement of intent from Peebles RFC as to our ambition to return to the higher levels of Scottish Rugby.”
Wright, 44, won 21 caps at prop for Scotland between 1992 and 1996, and toured New Zealand with the British Lions in 1993. He proved an inspiration as coach of Glasgow Hawks until quitting the post at the end of the season.
Peebles will play in the new Regional Championship in season 2012/13.
