Former Anniesland centre carries Torch

Celebrity and former rugby player James McAvoy carried the torch into Glasgow last night

James McAvoy who used to play rugby at Old ANNIESLAND as a teenager was one of the torch bearers in yesterday's relay on the streets of Glasgow

James joined GHK youth section at the same time as Neil (Mitch) Mitchell and Jason Carlin playing with under 16s & 18s for a couple of seasons. A useful centre he had to chose between rugby and acting. He was always going to make more money as an actor!

ITV reports
Actor James McAvoy honoured to carry Olympic torch in hometown
Actor James McAvoy was among a long line of people who carried the Olympic flame as it reached the first leg of the tour of Scotland today (June 8).

The torch was passed to the actor in Glasgow in front of crowds who watched him ran down Buchanan Street in the city centre.

He told ITV News: "The fact that they do something like this and they visit every town and they visit all the different places and everybody can get involved and really feel like its personal to them, I think makes it really special so I'm really honoured to be involved."
