Glasgow Hawks Rugby Club Glasgow Hawks Rugby Ball 2014

The hallmark of a great captain is the ability to win the toss

A cricketer's life is a life of splendid freedom, healthy effort, endless variety, and delightful good fellowship.
W.G. Grace

Despite the ever present risk of rain stopping play the All Hawks X1 took the field against the X1 good men of GHK on that dear green place Old Anniesland in front of a discerning crowd

A mixture of unbridled youth and considerable experience was on display the latter including a Schools international,a chap who has been 12th Man for Scotland on the historic Hamilton Crescent, men who have experienced Glasgow mid week cricket and a Test player from Zimbabwe a potent mixture indeed

The Battle of Waterloo may not have been won on the playing fields of Eton but there was plenty of straight batting on display this afternoon that would have made Dr Arnold of Rugby proud

Despite an excellent rearguard innings by prop pairing Paul Henderson & John Lohoar to get 106 final score by Hawks it wasn't enough to trouble an excellent 181 from GHK though!!!
Great day and thanks to Rory Cammy et al for organising
