The term "legend" is much overused in sport these days
Amidst all the turmoil at Ibrox many great players from the past have made comment
One such has been Johnny Hubbard and in his case the term was well earned
Dean Kelbrick was not the first sporting talent to arrive in Glasgow from Pretoria for in 1949 teenager Hubbard arrived at Ibrox during the latter years of Bill Struth's reign A product of Pretoria Hamilton School he became known as the Penalty King scoring 65 from 68 takes including one for South Africa
He was followed into Ibrox by another South African a few years later Don Kitchenbrand who was known as The Rhino, and was related to former Glasgow player Roland Reid
Like many of his fellow countrymen he also excelled at cricket and played for the Footballers X1 against West of Scotland at Hamilton Crescent
It was in the cricket arena where a very youthful Cammy Little faced him for GHK when they played his adopted home side Prestwick
