West of Scotland S2 – 0
Glasgow Hawks S2 – 31
Firstly, apologies to regular readers for the delay in getting the match report out this week. The writer was having difficulty with technology, in particular in relation to the pictures which go along with this article.
As can be seen from the result reported above, S2’s have gone from strength to strength. Having come through a very difficult match against Hawick last week, the squad reverted to their high-scoring, winning ways. The match had to be switched from Anniesland to Burnbrae because of the condition of the pitches at Anniesland. The pitch on which we played at Burnbrae carried a little casual water however that did not prevent our forwards and backs playing a magnificent game scoring nine tries with four of those tries being converted. It would be wrong to single out any one player for their performance because this was truly a team performance with all boys firing on all cylinders.
I have mentioned it before and I don’t apologise for mentioning it again that one of the strengths of this squad is the support given by players, who are not playing, to the actual team. Three of the walking wounded attended and watched the match on Sunday; Iain Parry, Max Martin and Tom Cahn. They are pictured hanging around the touchline and I am sure there is no truth in the rumour that the only reason that they were there was because they expected to see some talent of a different kind! Thanks again boys for turning out despite the injuries.
We play Marr this Sunday with a kick-off at 11:30am down at Marr to allow the boys to go to Murrayfield if they so desire. Please meet at 11am at the pitches for a warm-up before the match. This should hopefully provide a good test prior to the district championships which are due to take place on 27th November (weather permitting) at Scotstoun. Further details of that competition will be posted as and when the writer has the information to pass on.
