Anniesland's Chariot of Fire

The final run in to London 2102 is underway and this has spawned a renewed interest in that great film Chariots of Fire in fact ITV will carry a documentary on the real Chariots Liddell and Abrahams on Monday night

Liddell graced Anniesland prior to his immortal win in Paris 1924--he won his first rugby cap for Scotland playing in a trial at New Anniesland
His achievement an Olympic Gold and world record being the centre piece of the film directed by David Puttnam who opened the Drama Studio at High School of Glasgow

However what is not so widely known is that former president of GHK Ian Litster featured in the famous run on the beach filmed at St Andrews depicting the final preparations before the Games

As a footnote how many of Andy Robinson's team of 2012 could match the 47.6 for 400 metres recorded by this Scottish winger of 90 years ago

"The secret of my success over the 400m is that I run the first 200m as fast as I can. Then, for the second 200m, with God's help I run faster.
