Hawks Under 18s set out on their maiden season with a visit to the Kirkgate Ayr 10s on Saturday. A squad of 14 players, depleted due to injuries and holidays, travelled to Millbrae where we were drawn against Ayr in the opening round. Ayr, with a squad of 25 players, provided the sternest test available for our Under18s. However, Hawks took the game by storm and scored 6 tries with some expansive rugby to win 34-24.We then played Whitecraigs in the cup semi-final, where, despite rotating our squad, we played some great rugby to score a barrel-load of tries in a 50-odd point victory. We then met 'Millbrae/Ayr' in the final where despite a huge effort from our exhausted squad went down by 38-31. It was a tremendous effort from all the boys and has given us a great lift for the season ahead. Thanks to all parents and supporters who helped to make it a good opening day.
We look forward to our next fixture against Glasgow Academy before kicking off our League campaign at home to Greenock Wanderers on September 1st.
