NEW GLASGOW DEVELOPMENT OFFICERS AIM HIGH
Thursday, 06 September 2012
Two players well known to the club game in the west and for their previous involvement with Scotland 7s and the national age-grades are using their skills to reinvigorate rugby in Glasgow area.

Glasgow Hawks stand-off Mike Adamson and Ayr scrum-half Peter Jericevich have been appointed as Glasgow Hawks' development officer and Glasgow University development officer respectively.

For both players this is a chance to use their love for the game to inject a new lease of enthusiasm into clubs, schools and universities in Scotland’s biggest city.

Adamson said: “I want to get into all the schools and get the kids enjoying rugby from a young age and give them plenty of opportunities to play rugby.

“You coach the game because you love the game and after you play the game you go into coaching to pass on your knowledge and enthusiasm for the game. I want to pass on the passion I have got for rugby so I can help promote it in Glasgow.”

For Jericevich he has seen the set up of other universities who play in Scotland’s regional leagues as well as the students' Wednesday leagues and he wants to try to match that standard.

He said: “If you look at Edinburgh and St Andrews Universities they have a strong set-up, so I want to try to get that standard of rugby here and create a professional rugby atmosphere, which everyone enjoys.”
