A day for the thoroughbreds

Saturday saw Hawks host a sponsors lunch prior to the match against Kelso
where new main sponsor Rettie were presented with a framed jersey by Club President Alasdair Graham
One of our sponsors certainly had earned her lunch as she had just done a twenty mile run as you do on a Saturday morning

Katie of Achilles Heel is in the final preparations for the Liverpool Marathon
Achilles Heel is a heady mixture of a Geordie girl who tackles marathons and Paul a Border Harrier which brings you to "fell running stock "and you don't get much tougher than that
Mix this with the sight of Kelso physio John Robson's easy loping stride belying his 3m 52s mile achieved at Oslo's Bislett Games my day was complete -- but not quite

Hawks Team manager Scott Inglis may not have the streamlined look of an Arkle but did however get his hands on the Trophy named after the Chariot of Fire Eric Liddell
The honour of currently holding this trophy and when you read the names on it it's a considerable honour falls to Neil Gourley (son of the current GHK supremo Ronnie)for his efforts over 800/1500m at the Scottish Schools
It is strange to think that Liddells breakthrough at rugby happened at Glasgow Accies New Anniesland in 1922 and he signed off his athletics career at Hampden Park in 1925 when he almost got beaten by a Glasgow HSFP sprinter Robert McLean

Good to luck Katie on 14th October
