GLASGOW HAWKS v JED-FOREST: 29 SEPTEMBER, 2012
Playing with the wind on a bright afternoon, there were only 3 minutes on the clock when Hawks scored their first try .......prop Steven Findlay barging over. His try was duly converted by Mike Adamson, who quickly followed up with a penalty to take the score to 10 – 0 after only 8 minutes. Jed then had to re-jig their backs when centre, Robert Hogg, left the field with a leg injury; Ryan Miller was his replacement. Playing some exciting, open rugby, Hawks went on to score a further four tries in the first half, with two from scrum half, Haddon McPherson, and one each for Tony Herron and David Milne, two of which were converted by Mike Adamson, taking the half-time score to 34-0 and with the try bonus point already having been secured.
Things didn't get much better for Jed in the second half when Hawks opened the scoring after only 4 minutes, left wing Tom Steven breaking through several tackles to score a sixth try. Hawks then made several changes to their line up which allowed Jed into the game, with the wind at their backs. Their fly half, Ewan Scott, managed to elude the cover defence on the Hawks line in the 47th and 60th minutes, both scores being converted by Iain Chisholm. However, Tony Herron soon outpaced the stretched Jed-Forest defence for Hawks’ seventh try and his own second, with Mike Adamson successfully converting. Hawks had the final say in the game when replacement hooker, Callum Kerr, showed typical determination to touch down on the 78th minute mark, leaving the final score: Glasgow Hawks 51 Jed-forest 14.
