The Long Runners

In a sport like rugby the older you get the better the player you were
In athletics you do not enjoy that licence or selectivity of memory as the watch was stopped and the unforgiving minute read and worse recorded

So for the record our sponsor Katie of Achilles Heel targeted 3.45 and she ran 3.44.27 for the Tour of Merseyside in the form of the Liverpool Marathon on Sunday This is no mean time

She now joins the Hawks veritable pantheon of endurance athletes like Jimmy Sinclair ,Scott Inglis, Kenny" Half Iron Man "Hamilton, Stu "Forth and Clyde Canal Man" Low and last but certainly not least Ricky " Marathon des Sables" man Munday
Unconfirmed reports also suggest that Coach Dempsey took to the highways at one time but your scribe needs confirmation of this just like when his father was told he could get coloured TV he said he wouldn't believe unless he saw it in black and white

Well done Katie and the rest of the support staff at Achilles Heel especially Paul who now can book his place amongst the great running coaches like Lydiard and Cerutty
To use an old sports cliche the staff at Achilles Heel just don't talk the talk they walk the walk and in the "real "sports community that is important because this informs the advice they can give
