Jed-Forest parted company with head coach Darren Cunningham yesterday following Saturday’s defeat to Watsonians which left them bottom of the RBS National League.
Less than 24-hours after the battling 29-25 home loss, a club statement was released stating: “Darren has always shown dedication and brought enthusiasm to his role as head coach at the club, however it is results that matter and to that end he has failed to deliver this season.”
On Saturday, league leaders Watsonians held on for their 10th win in a row, but rode their luck. The visitors took a 20-5 lead into the break but Jed picked up in the second half and with just seconds remaining were only four points behind at 29-25. One last attack saw them held up over the try line and Watsonians knew that they had survived a real scare.
For the leaders, two tries came from Chris Scott while Mike Ker kicked 16 points and replacement Brian Walls added a penalty. Jed’s points came from two Gregor Young tries, one apiece from Chris Gillon and Gregor Taylor and five points from the boot of Iain Chisholm.
Injury hit Glasgow Hawks are still second despite never really hitting top gear in their 23-9 home win over Biggar.
The teams were tied at 6-6 at the break before tries from James Gormley and Paddy Boyer put them ahead with a breakaway try from Tony Herron sealing the win.

Their four tries were scored by Keith Davies, Gary Johnstone, captain Greg Cottrell and Scott McLeod with Neil Renwick kicking 17 points to keep his good season going. Tries for fifth placed Selkirk, came from Darren Clapperton and Rory Banks.
