Hawks welcome one of the great old clubs

The last time Hawks played Greenock Wanderers (who have a proud record going back to 1873 which makes them as old as the SRU itself)in the Cup was in February 2007 -- Hawks had quite a lineup which included some names that went on to greater things
One suspects that Friday nights match will be a somewhat different contest altogether

It was reported back then that
"Glasgow Hawks made the short trip to Fort Matilda to take on Greenock Wanderers in a rearranged 4th round Scottish cup tie.
In beautiful conditions at the most picturesque of grounds, the eventual score was 72-0 to the Hawks, who scored 12 tries in total. Try scorers for Hawks were Steve Gordon(2), Max Evans(2), Murray Strang, Kenny Sinclair, Nick Cox, Gavin Mories, Allan Kelly, Ally Dale, Niall Caddell and Rory Kerr, who also surprised the fans by stepping up to add a conversion. Nevertheless, the young Greenock Wanderers team refused to give up - spurning several easy kicks for goal to go for tries, and were unlucky not to get over the line."

Max Evans now with Castres took the pitch against the All Blacks on Sunday,--- Murray Strang has now been capped by UAE ---,Kenny Sinclair has retired after a distinguished International Sevens career-- Nick Cox plies his trade at Ayr--Rory Kerr has turned out for Strathendrick-- Allan Kelly gone travelling--Steve Gordon,Niall Caddell Ally Dale retired and Gavin Mories concentrates on Cricket
