Accies GHK and Hawks`were all represented at a Civic reception given to the All Blacks by Glasgow City Council yesterday to mark the centenary of the first New`Zealand visit in 1905
The City wanted to recognise the Glasgow clubs that contributed players to the Scottish team in 1905 namely Accies(T Sloan,L.L.Greig) and`West,(W.P.Scott)also to recognise the players from Accies,GHSFP,West and Kelvinside Accies who played for the West of Scotland team that lost at Hampden to the All Blacks

Glasgow HSFP had to wait until 1906 to have a player in a test against the "colonials" when G.M. Frew joined Sloan`Greig and Scott to play the first Springboks at Hampden

And in Glasgow earlier this week, on the 100th anniversary to the day that New Zealand played West of Scotland – a select team drawn from clubs within the Glasgow city boundary – in a match at Hampden Park, which New Zealand won 22-0, Glasgow City Council honoured the memory of that day with a civic reception hosted by Lord Provost Liz Cameron at which representatives of both teams were again in attendance.
What is not widely known is that three years previously in 1902,Glasgow Accies,West and`Kelvinside Accies helped to guarantee a tour by the Canadians to Scotland--Accies and West put up £40 each and Kelvinside put up £10,this together with gate money gave the toursts some £70 a handsome sum back then
