The Tobago Rugby Club men team gave a very impressive showing in the Carib Tobago International Rugby Sevens, the last Sevens tournament, on the Trinidad and Tobago Rugby Association calendar for 2012.
They finished third among a host of international teams in the tournament which was won by Dog Rivers of Canada with Harvard Rugby Club that ruled the roost in the major tournaments, finishing second.
In the women category, Lauren Harris who was voted the Most Valuable Player at the second edition of the event played a pivotal role in her team Rugby Eccose of Scotland success as they walked with the $5000 US first prize.
The Tobago women team finished the tournament winless but gained valuable experience and exposure.
The tournament was staged at the Canaan/Bon Accord recreation ground that became a mud style because of incessant rains and the trampling of the ground by the players.
However, this did not bother the players, both female and male, especially the foreigners, who seemed to relish the muddy conditions as they totally enjoyed themselves.
Many of the players, especially the females told the Tobago News that they are already looking forward to returning next year for the tournament.
