Hawks Under 18 side have been invited to play against Boroughmuir as a curtain raiser to the 1872 Cup match between Glasgow and Edinburgh on Saturday 29th December on the 3G at Murrayfield, kick off 1.30pm.

Glasgow Hawks are in their maiden season in Under 18 rugby and compete in the West League Division.

The absence of an Under 18 side at Glasgow Hawks has always proved a major obstacle in the development of the host of talented players coming through the Midi section at the club. In an effort to swell the ranks of home grown players in Hawks senior teams, the emergence of this squad will hopefully ensure a steady stream of talent and secure a bright and successful future for the club as a whole.

Following on from last year's all conquering Under 16 National Champions, the continuity has been maintained with many players moving up to the Under 18 squad along with one of last year's Under 16 coaches taking over as Head Coach and a tremendously pro-acitve and supportive group of parents taking up posts within the rapidly emerging structure.

The initial aim was to get the team up and running and to provide the players with quality coaching and a positive atmosphere where enjoyment and achievement work hand in hand. The medium term goal is to set up a structure that will continue to develop the talent coming through for years to come and to create an environment where Glasgow Hawks are seen as one of the major rugby nurseries in the country.

The development of the squad has continued throughout the season and we currently have around 40 players registered to play Under 18 rugby. We rotate our squad to ensure that players are not over-burdened by too much rugby.The enthusiasm of the boys to play for Hawks and the loyalty of parents in supporting the squad is a major factor in how far we have come in such a short time.

Hawks Under 18 s have played 8 games ( won 5, drawn 1, lost 2). We have played Glasgow Academy in a pre- season "friendly" and will continue to strengthen the links with our affiliated schools. The majority of our squad is comprised of state school boys who play rugby only at Hawks, some local,some from further afield.

We provide players to Glasgow Regional teams at U16, U17 and U18 level and are developing more all the time.

WE ARE TAKING A COACH PARTY OF 50 THROUGH TO MURRAYFIELD SO COME AND SUPPORT THE BOYS AND SEE THE FUTURE STARS OF GLASGOW HAWKS
