BT Premiership Division One champions Glasgow Hawks won the inaugural Scotsman Club Sevens today at Murrayfield during half-time of the Bank of Scotland Corporate Autumn Test between Scotland and New Zealand.

Watsonians began the game the dominant force in front of over 45,000 supporters, being denied by Hawks\' consistent defensive performance.

The only try of the game came from Hawks\' Ally Maclay after a piercing solo run to touch down near the right touchline. The conversion was made by Kenny Sinclair from distance.

Glasgow Hawks 7s team manager Kenny Hamilton hailed the event as a huge success. He said: \"It was a thoroughly enjoyable event. It is great experience for the guys and an amazing thrill to play in front of over 45,000 people.

\"It is a bit strange however to be playing sevens in bobble hats and winter woollies,\" he joked.

\"All the games were played in good spirit, very fun and enjoyable,\" he added.
