Scotsman Cup Roundup

Glasgow Hawks completed their Group B fixtures in the RBS West Regional Cup with six bonus point wins out of six by seeing off Dumfries at Old Anniesland.

Hawks have beaten the Park Farm side, Greenock Wanderers and Whitecraigs twice each and, when the other groups are finished, will be quietly confident of winning the regional event and progressing to the national quarter-finals.

On Saturday they took a slender 7-0 lead in to the interval, Ross Miller scoring a try and Mike Adamson converting. After the break they found top gear and added 40 more points. Grant Strang, Tom Steven (2), Miller again, John Lohoar and Andy White all ran in tries.

Ayr have won four out of four played in Group A. At Hughenden, wing brothers Craig and Kerr Gossman each got try hat-tricks while Calum Forrester, Nick Cox and Murray McConnell also crossed in a 55-5 win over Hillhead/Jordanhill.

Cartha Queens Park saw off Dalziel 38-12 and still have an outside chance of pipping Hamilton at the top of Group C.

In the RBS Borders Regional Cup, Selkirk have one foot in the national quarter-finals after they saw off
Hawick 16-7 at Philiphaugh. Tries from Josh Welsh and Angus Duckett, with two Scott Hendrie penalties means they need just one point from their last match.

Hawick YM pushed Jed-Forest before the latter came out on top 16-15 thanks to a Ewan Scott kick.

Kelso also saw off Peebles 24-17 at Poynder Park.

In the RBS Caledonia
Regional Cup, Aberdeen Grammar and Howe of Fife have topped their respective groups after comfortable wins at the weekend.

Grammar came back from Dunfermline with a 77-0 victory under their belts, while the Howe won 66-14 at Perthshire.

Heriot’s came back from 15-0 down to see off Stewart’s Melville 32-18 in the RBS Edinburgh Regional Cup. The Goldenacre men have won all six of their group matches with their tries coming from Kevin Bryce (2), Graham Wilson, Rory Carmichael, Gavin Cameron and Jamie Parker.

Edinburgh Accies defeated Musselburgh 59-24, Currie came out on top 29-10 at Hartreemill against hosts Biggar and Boroughmuir saw off Murrayfield Wanderers 46-7 at Meggetland.
