Glasgow Hawks 43-0 Stew/Mel

Terrific result considering 8 weeks since last league game for most of team- combo of weather and Selkirk not having a team to travel ! In fact this was Stew/Mels 3rd go at trying to get a team together to come thru'. Credit to all involved at Inverleith in getting a squad for this much needed game.
Injuries and illness resulted in creative selections in Hawks back-line. Franco filling the 12 jersey with confidence but seemed to lose his back-row hardness after 20mins and was replaced by Hoggy, moving from the "row" !! Even more creative!
Stew/Mel had lot of possession but Hawks defence produced an increasingly suffocating performance and kept hem to nil. 1st half was rusty after the lay-off and only highlights were the 2 tries scored and the 2 chalked off for forward passes.
Scrum pressure and good pick and go , created time for Rob Wilson to put Sean Murray into space and a great finish. Rob conv, 7-0. Another good scrum position gave Sean Yac opportunity to get round defence and score in corner, 12-0 after 22mins.
Another wide attack saw Sean M off-load inside for Brodie Clark to score , but stopped for forward pass! Few minutes later Sean gave another inside ball to Callum T, same thing happened!! Both moves well created.
2nd half started with good scrum on left and superb miss pass from Rob to Brodie , who held his depth and sped over unopposed. 19-0.
Best try of game after 55mins, break by Rob carried on up left , ball wide thru' Ross Angus and John Rae , into far corner then thrown wide left thru' Rob and Brodie to Peter Redmayne "loitering" on touchline to canter over. 26-0, Brecko conv.
3rd try of day disallowed for "forward" pass followed- great break by Rob , brilliant support by Peter R and inside pass to CT, who had ran the length of the field in support.CT should have been on a hat-trick!!
Stolen line-out by Craig Brodie , flicked out of back of hand to supporting Ross Angus who off-loaded to "inside centre" Hoggy who picked a great line and over under posts, 33-0 after 64mins, another Brecko conv.
Great lead up play almost ruined when ball turned over, but Sean M managed to regather and off-load to Ross before quick ruck and ball wide to Brodie , 38-0.
Last play of game came from another stolen line-out by Craig B, again using width thru' Rob and Hoggy and Brodie finished for 1st league hat-trick! 43-0
