Your scribe has very mixed memories of key matches against the men from Poynder Park ranging from the joy of a sunny spring day at Murrayfield to the despair of a winter Sunday at New Anniesland
The joy came from Hawks win over Kelso in front of over 17,000 people at the 1998 Murrayfield Cup Final so joyous it was that it took the chairman of the time nearly three days to get home
The despair came when the men of Kelso wrought revenge the following season putting the holders out the Cup with a try in the last minute at New ANNIESLAND and JJ could hardly contain himself
Our last visit to Poynder Park was in 2005 for a very hard fought Cup tie with the likes of Murray Strang, Ali Mustoe ,Richard McKnight ,Wes Henry and Steve Begley in the Hawks side
Whether it was a win or loss it was always hard it was hard then and it will still be hard on Saturday
