It was the second year of the tournament, which took place at Glasgow Accies ground, New Anniesland and for defending champions the Minerva Builders it was a second successive victory.

The team made up of players from Glasgow Hawks, GHA and Ayr, won the Cup, 41-19 against the Yellow Bellied Lizards, a.k.a Glasgow University 1XV.

Edinburgh based side, the Sunday Schoolers won the lower tiered Bowl

Glasgow University development officer and the Minerva Builder’s captain, Peter Jericevich, said: “Today has gone really well and we’re delighted to have defended our title.

“John Rae and Mike Hill, who are on the Glasgow University rugby committee, have done a great job organising pitches, sponsors and prizes.

“We had 11 teams involved today, so roughly 130 players and we had 200 students and locals through the gate. We really want to establish the event going forward and keep building on this year’s success."

On the road to the Cup final the Minerva Builders beat Glasgow Hawks and Glasgow Accies and the Yellow Bellied Lizards beat Strathclyde University and Glasgow University 2XV.
