Stirling County RFC are hosting their annual Rugby Sevens Tournament on Saturday at Bridgehaugh.
This year’s event promises a feast of non-stop fast rugby action with a competitive mix of teams, who will all play for the County Sevens Cup, with those knocked out in the first round competing for the Sevens Plate.
Teams competing include Boroughmuir, Currie, Glasgow Hawks, GHA, Hamilton, Howe of Fife, Cartha QP, Stirling University, and a few guest teams, as well as hosts Stirling County.
The Ondeo Stirling County Sevens is now well-established in the sevens calendar, and forms part of this year’s Arnold Clark sponsored Legacy 7s Series.

This is part of the ongoing legacy programme for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and brings together established sevens events at Stirling County, as well as Boroughmuir (April 27) in Edinburgh, Howe of Fife (May 4), Hamilton (May 11) and Glasgow City (May 18).The
The overall winner will be the side that accumulates the most points across all five events, with double points being awarded at the final event in the series, the Glasgow City Sevens.
Stirling County, Edinburgh Rugby and Scotland squad member, Sean Kennedy, who played in the 2011 Legacy Sevens Series, said: “Rugby sevens is fast and action-packed so it is a great introduction to the sport for those who maybe haven’t had the chance to see it before. Playing 7s definitely helped develop me as a player and I really enjoyed playing in the Legacy 7s Series. The crowds really responded to the players and I am sure this year’s event will be the same. “
Jeffrey Clark, General Manager, Arnold Clark Car and Van Rental manager added: “Rugby sevens is not only a Commonwealth sport, but an Olympic sport as of 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.
“We are delighted to sponsor the Legacy 7s Series and wish all the competing teams’ every success for the forthcoming season.” Kick off on Saturday is at noon.
