Selkirk Sevens

From Selkirk website
IT’S all systems go for this Saturday’s Selkirk Sevens, sponsored for the first time by Lawrie’s Garage of St Boswells. The St Boswells-based company is delighted to be supported the event, as general manager Craig Anderson told the selkirkrfc.com web site this week.
“We are very proud to be sponsoring the 2013 Selkirk Sevens,” said Mr Anderson, “as it is one of the most popular and keenly contested tournaments on the Kings of the Sevens circuit.
“Just like Selkirk Rugby Club we are driving our business forward, and now house the only Volkswagen and SKODA authorised repairer and approved used car centre in the Scottish Borders. Within the past month we have also added Hyundai to our facility in St Boswells.” Lawrie's Garage will have several of its cars on display at the Selkirk tournament.
Last Thursday at the company’s St Boswells headquarters, Mr Anderson presented a sponsorship cheque to Selkirk Rugby Club’s sevens convener John Rutherford. Also present at the handover was Will Grieve, Keith Brocklehurst, Steve Murray and George Mack.
John Rutherford said the club owed a big debt of gratitude to the tournament’s new sponsor. “Running a successful sevens tournament is a massive undertaking, and the support of Lawrie’s Garage has given this year’s event a terrific boost.
“As the penultimate event in the Kings of the Sevens series, it promises to be an exciting afternoon of rugby. We have managed to attract an extremely strong line-up of teams this year, including RBS Premiership & Scottish Cup winners Ayr, as well as Premiership sides Heriot’s FP and Edinburgh Accies.
“In addition to all the Borders’ leading clubs, other teams bidding for the 2013 title include RBS National League champions Glasgow Hawks, plus Hillhead/Jordanhill and Watsonians from the same league. It promises to be an unforgettable day.”
