From Caldy website

Whilst you will be aware of the Caldy Sevens, you may not be aware that the event is the longest continuously running club sevens tournament in the UK, now in its 70th year and is being held on Sunday 26th May, with games commencing at midday and running through to 6pm.

Caldy Rugby Club has a rich tradition of upholding the core values of sevens rugby and the game of rugby in general and this year, to really generate interest for supporters, we have decided to run two competitions in parallel.

Firstly, the Okell Shield will be competed by 8 teams of a high calibre comprising Caldy Ben Smiths, Calavero, Chester, Glasgow Hawks, Edge Hill College, Ellesmere College, Rugby Club of Liverpool & Stockport.

Secondly, the Plate is a true local contest and will be competed by the following 8 Anselmians, Birkenhead Park, Hoylake, New Brighton, Tarleton, Trustland Caldy 3's & Wirral. Another local side are currently in the process of putting a team together.

Whilst there will be a small corporate facility, the main clubhouse bar and lounge, together with a bar in the main marquee will be open to all supporters and players throughout the day and evening. We do have a midnight bar extension and we will also be operating a strict challenge 25 policy, so if you are lucky enough to look under 25, please do have valid id with you if you want to buy drinks. .

Everybody can expect very warm hospitality and an atmosphere that Caldy Rugby Club is famous for. In addition to the excellent rugby on offer, there will be live afternoon and evening entertainment laid on in the marquee as well as children’s entertainment provided on the grounds throughout the day and food outlets so that the Caldy Sevens can return to being a major family day out on the Wirral.

Gates will be open from 10:00, and entrance for 18's and over is only £5, so why not come up for a great day out. Please do forward this message as well as the attached poster onto all of your friends.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
