THE Braidholm 7s are back for a fourth year and the Minerva Builders are back to defend their trophy.
The invitational select side featuring stars from Glasgow Hawks and Ayr will face some tough competition.
In last year’s final, the premier one giants faced GHA but a workman-like performance saw them overcome the home side.
This year, the event will have a cosmopolitan feel with Orsay Rugby Club, from Paris, joining a Fijian-dominated Black Watch Regiment in this year’s draw.
The Braidholm 7s was founded in 2010 by a group of GHA players looking to help raise funds for their club.
The tournament has gone from strength to strength and is now firmly established as a player’s favourite, with a format that guarantees all teams at least four games and a good social atmosphere.
Tournament organiser Rangi Jericevich said:
“We are delighted to welcome our first international visitors to this year’s Braidholm 7s.
“It is sure to be a highly competitive and entertaining day of rugby, and our open entry policy will make for an exciting time.”
The tournament is tomorrow (Saturday) at Braidholm. KO is 11am with the final at 5pm. Tickets are available on the gate on the day: £6 adults, £4 concessions.
