A brick short

Report from a Builders insider

Builders one brick short of the full construction.

Yesterday saw the annual south Glasgow sevens fixture at Braidholm, hosted by GHA rugby club. The sun was shinning as representatives from both Glasgow Hawks and GHK displayed their skills in front of sun burnt on lookers.

The Minerva Builders team, the defending Braidholm champions, managed to reach the final coming second to hosts GHA, defeating Caledonia Uni, Greenock Wanderers, Glasgows Biggest Tickets (a HillJills side) and touring French side Orsay along the way.

Despite the usual display of skill and speed fans have come to expect from Scotland's most exciting invitational sevens side it wasn't to be on the day and the builders stumbled at the final hurdle against a strong GHA side in a thrilling 20 minute final that could have gone either way.

Minerva Builders Club Captain Louis Kinsey, speaking to this reporter after the fixture, said the following:

'All credit to GHA, the boys had the desire after losing to us last year and it showed. We had a few starting 7 boys injured and we would like to have won today but the boys played brilliantly all day so theres no complaints here. We'll go away, learn from this and hopefully come back next year and take the honours. Well done to the GHA boys and thanks to the organisers. Cheers'
