Glasgow Accies is delighted to announce the appointment of 2012/13 SRU Youth Coach of the Year, John Couper, as their new Head Coach with immediate effect. “Coups” is joined by assistant Graham Boyle bringing strength and depth to the coaching set-up at New Anniesland as the Club prepares for its forthcoming season in RBS West Division 1.

Nigel Campbell, GARFC Chairman said: “We’re absolutely delighted to announce these new appointments. “Coups” and Graham bring with them a wealth of UKCC coaching expertise and, with their backgrounds in Pathway and District age-group rugby, a great deal of experience in developing young players. We believe that this can only be of benefit to the development of our predominantly young squad and bodes well for the medium term future of the Club.”

“And importantly, as a part of “Anniesland Rugby” along with Hawks and GHK, this move by Accies to secure 2 of the most promising young coaches in the country from within our own collective ranks shows to the wider Scottish rugby public that coaches, as well as players, can have a clear development path at Anniesland.”

John Couper said: “ Graham and I are really pleased to be joining Accies. They’ve got in place a real determination to develop both on and off the pitch, some great facilities and their commitment to develop young players is unquestionable. We look forward to working with the team at New Anniesland, particularly Strength & Conditioning Coach Duncan Beattie as we all get ready for the new season.”
