Nico in Zimbabwe Squad for Nations Cup

Former Hawk Nico Nyemba has been selected for the Zimbabwe Squad for the upcoming African Nations Cup

Zimbabwe have included him squad for their defence of the 2013 African Nations Cup which acts as part of the 2015 World Cup Qualifier. The tournament hosted by Madagascar and also involves Uganda and Kenya takes place on 7th-15th July.

The 2013 African Nations Cup is important to Zimbabwe’s hopes of qualifying for the 2015 World Cup in England as the team who finishes bottom will be relegated to the second division with the winner of that division being promoted. From the four teams in the top division after the completion of the 2013 African Nations Cup, the winner in the 2014 tournament will automatically qualify for the 2015 world cup where they will be in Pool C with New Zealand, Argentina, Tonga and the winners of the European Qualifiers. The second placed team in 2014 will then enter the playoffs with the runners up from the Oceania, Americas, Asia and Europe Qualifiers.

Nico follows in the footsteps of Ian Noble who also represented Zimbabwe
