Invitational childrens charity rugby team, The Pigbarians RFC are honoured to have been invited to play against Preston Lodge RFC on Saturday 13th July at the Pennypit to celebrate the career of one of the clubs most famous sons, Allan ‘Chunk’ Jacobsen and also mark the official opening of their new Prestonlodge Clubhouse.
The Pigs connection with Preston Lodge RFC and Allan Jacobsen go back a long way. Pigbarians founded and Honourary Chairman, Jimmy ‘The Pig’ Michie is a former player of the Prestonpans outfit and formed the Pigbarians during his time at the club. Chunk is also a huge supporter of both The Pigbarians RFC and the charity it represents, Dreamz4U and has served as an Hounourary President of the club for a number of years now.
The Pigs squad has been especially chosen to include as many of Chunk’s former teammates and friends and is guest coached by recently appointed SRU Vice-President Ian Rankin, who was the first coach to sign Chunk as a professional player. Another couple of notable selections are that of Cameron Leigh and Joshua Christie both from the London Scottish Academy. Their inclusion marks the beginning of a ‘community partnership’ between the Pigbarians RFC and London Scottish. The squad in full is as follows:
