Glasgow Hawks Rugby Club Glasgow Hawks Rugby Ball 2014

JED MATCH REPORT

Hawks 2xv faced the long journey to Jed knowing that they had lost the home fixture by only 3 points
Only 8 players remained in the Hawks squad from that match and were all keen to restart league campaign after 4 week lay off
Hawks forwards started strongly getting numbers to the breakdown and producing quality ball for atalented back line
early position and possession resulted in a good try and therafter both teams tried to play expansive but it was Jed's driving play which started to shift the balance of play penalties were kicked by both sides and it was 8-3 at half time
Early Jed pressure was in the second half was met with stout defence with greg Fancis,Danny Hoffman, and replacement full back Sean Murray to the fore.
Gradually Hawks came into the game and started to apply pressure and force turnovers. In the last twenty minutes this resulted in easing away with afurther 3 tries 2 converted by Kenny Baillie in addition to a penalty to finish worthy winners 27-3
All 17 players made valuable contributions and fitness`levels were suprisingly good after such a long time without a game
It was particularly pleasing to see Greg Francis who by the way needs at least 2 more 2nd xv matches Gavin Mories and James Craig all return to action.
Of the regulars Sean Murray deserves particular mention for sound tackling and enterprise at full back.
Thanks to Jed for ahard fought and fair game good rugby and hospitality in very pleasannt surroundings
