Peter Murchie

Peter Murchie joined Glasgow Warriors from London Welsh in 2009 and in December 2012 he signed a new deal keeping him at Scotstoun for at least another three years.
Peter won caps with England U18s and English Universities, having been developed within Bath's academy system. He was part of Bath's 1st XV squad as a teenager and played in the Middlesex Sevens at 19. He qualifies for Scotland through his father's Ayr origins.
Peter joined the National League One side Waterloo in 2006, going on to make 24 appearances and scoring five tries, before moving to Pertemps Bees, where he scored once in 15 matches last season. He was snapped up in 2008 by the newly professional London Welsh.
“My dad used to play for Ardrossan and is a very passionate Scotsman.” said the 23-year-old. “He’s always been keen to get me back north of the border so this move realises an ambition for the two of us.”
On his new deal, Peter said: “Moving to Glasgow is a good way to further my career because it’s another step up.
“I came up for a day and spoke to Sean, the rest of the coaches and the players. Sean is very up front and I like that.”
The former Bath player admitted he has been keeping an eye on the Warriors ever since he was approached by the club and is excited by the success of many of the young Scottish players.
“I’ve managed to see a few games on television towards the end of the season and they’ve scored some great tries.
“You only have to look at the number of young Scottish players at the Warriors who are all playing international rugby. All the young guys have done very well under Sean’s stewardship.”
Warriors head coach, Sean Lineen, said: “I’m excited by the find of Peter Murchie. He has the raw material that we can shape into a special player. He will also add some real depth to our exciting back-line.”
