Scott Wight
Scott Wight joined Glasgow Warriors on a two-year deal in the summer of 2011 and signed for a further one year in 2013.
Galashiels born Scott joins the Warriors from Melrose where he skippered the club to Premier One and Melrose Sevens titles in 2011.
Scott is enjoying getting to grips with the demands of full-time rugby.
"This is a whole different ball game to being a club player, no matter how much time you train," he said. "It's tough but I'm really enjoying it; it's what I always wanted to do.
"The camp with the marines (at RM Condor in Arbroath) was unbelievable - I have never done anything like that before - but the whole pre-season has been great.
"We had the ball in early on, which was great, but there is a lot of fitness, strength and conditioning, as you'd expect, and it's all brilliant. I'm improving every week, and learning loads. Rest periods are really rest periods for example. If you've got a 90-minute/two-hour session of fitness and strength and conditioning in the morning, and then another in the afternoon, or skills, you can't function if you'd not had your rest and eaten properly, never mind improve.
"I lost about six kgs (nearly a stone] through the sevens at the end of last season and I'm struggling even to get back to the 88kgs (13st 12lbs] I was, never mind bigger, even with the six or seven meals I'm having every day, because you burn off so much. But the gym is massive for me and I'm loving it. The feeling of being able to put it in morning and afternoon, day after day, without worrying about the day job as a joiner is what I've always wanted and I'm making the most of it. It might take time, but I know I'll be a better player because of it."
Finlay Gillies
Finlay was an elite development player connected to Glasgow before signing a full-time deal with the Warriors in December 2011.
He impressed enough to be signed up on a two-year deal in 2012.
Finlay John Gillies was in the winning team on his debuts for Scotland at U19 and U20 levels. A replacement on both occasions, he played in the win against Italy in Parabagio, near Milan, in February 2008, and that was followed with Scotland’s win against Wales at McDiarmid Park, Perth, on the opening day of the U20 Six Nations Championship in February 2009.
A week after the Perth match he had his first start for Scotland U20 in the game against France in Chalon-sur-Saone. He also started in the three other matches in that championship, and three months later in the IRB Junior World Championship in Japan he again appeared in all five matches, starting in three and scoring two tries in the 35-26 win against Fiji in Osaka.
Finlay has also played for Scotland U18 as well as Edinburgh U16 and U18. A contracted member of Scottish Rugby’s Academy, he played for Haddington before switching to Heriot’s.
Ryan Grant
Ryan Grant signed a new two-year contract with Glasgow in October 2011 that will keep him with the club until at least the end of May 2014.
He moved along the M8 in 2010 following three years in Edinburgh.
Ryan, who played 14 games for Edinburgh, is a former Scotland age-grade internationalist who has gone on to win Scotland A honours and who has also represented the Army.
Speaking about Ryan, who arrived at the Warriors having gained experience at Border Reivers prior to joining Edinburgh, Sean Lineen said: "The way Ryan plays really suits Glasgow and he'll certainly get game-time here.
"He'll add quality to the front-row which is a crucial area for us because he's a big lad but he's also very mobile."
He joined Edinburgh from Border Reivers in 2007. Following up under-21 international honours in 2006 he made his Scotland A debut in the victory against their Italian counterparts at McDiarmid Park, Perth, in February 2007. He had joined Reivers on an apprentice contract the previous summer and made his competition debut in starting at loose head in the Magners League match against Ulster the following November.
The Scotland under-21 forward scored the clinching try for the Army in their 23-13 victory against the Royal Navy at Portsmouth in December 2005, a result that secured the Inter-Services Under-21 Championship for his team. Ryan, who has served in the Royal Signals, has played also for the Combined Services’ under-21 team, and he stepped up to Scotland’s under-21 team in making his international debut against France at Falkirk in February 2006 as well as playing in all four subsequent matches in the championship as loose head in an ever-present front five. Later in the year he played in all five matches in the under-21 world championship in France, and when he subsequently signed for Reivers he also joined Heriot’s.
Michael Cusack
Michael Cusack joined Glasgow Warriors from Doncaster Knights in 2011 and signed a new three-year deal which will keep him at Scotstoun until 2016.
The former Leeds forward was recommended to the club by one-time Edinburgh coach Lynn Howells, who worked with him at Doncaster.
On Mike's re-signing, Gregor Townsend said: “To have secured the services of Mike is great news for the club. He is developing a formidable reputation as one of the best tight-heads in the game and to have him here at Scotstoun for the long-term is terrific news.
“He contributes well in defence and I’ve also been impressed by his handling ability.
“With Test players Moray Low, Jon Welsh and Ed Kalman also able to play tighthead, Mike knows he has to continually work hard to win his place in the side. This competition can only drive up the standards for the whole club.”
The prop said: “This was an easy decision for me to make. There is a great buzz around Scotstoun and we’re building an exceptionally strong squad.
“I want to help this club achieve success and that means committing to the direction the club are going.
“I know that there is always going to be competition for places here at the Warriors, but that can only improve me as a player and help the club.”
Jon Welsh
Glasgow born prop Jon joined the Warriors from GHA in May 2008 and signed a new two-year deal in 2013.
An electrician by trade, Jon represented Scotland in the club international matches against Ireland and Wales in 2008.
He made his Glasgow debut in the Magners League match with Ospreys in May 2009.
He's gone on to represent Scotland at full international level.
Jon was a talented boxer and had to make a choice between the rugby pitch and the boxing ring. "When I was 13 I was second in the Scottish championships and the next year I won it," he says. "I won the Scottish title aged 14 when I was at the Bad Apple Gym in Kinning Park, but I boxed at a lot of gyms – at the ABC Gym in the Gorbals, in Woodvale Street in Govan, all over Glasgow.
"I started boxing when I was eight years old and stopped (at 14] when my boxing coach told me I had to choose between rugby and boxing. In boxing you've got to be as light and as nimble as you can be, on the other hand a good prop forward has got to be a big bruiser, and the two don't go hand in hand.
"But that experience has been vital because boxing stands you in good stead for life: the discipline it gave me has helped me in every area of my life, and it's come in handy on the rugby pitch when you need to get aggressive. There were always lots of scuffles and tussles, and there were times when I had to think and act fast. When I was at Whitecraigs (where he started playing aged 12] you always knew you were guaranteed a bit of scuffle with clubs like Ardrossan and Dalziel. Happy times."
Pat MacArthur
In January 2012, Glasgow hooker Pat MacArthur signed a new deal that will keep him at Scotstoun until at least May 2016.
Pat joined Glasgow on a full-time contract in May 2009 and signed a new two-year deal in 2011.
ot his rugby education at Millbrae with Ayr RFC and also with the West of Scotland club came through the national age-grade ranks before signing a professional contract with the Warriors.
He played U18, U19 and U20 for Scotland and has established himself as one of the most consistent hookers in the country.
Pat said: “I’m really pleased to have signed this new deal and committed myself to Scotstoun and the Warriors. It’s great playing my rugby here and it’s great to be part of this squad.
“I’m a west coast boy and, having grown up playing rugby in the west, playing professionally for the Warriors is fantastic but it’s about all of us working together and getting success with this team.
“We are all pushing each other to get better as players and I’m certainly no different. There is terrific competition for the number 2 shirt with Dougie (Hall) and Fin (Gillies) but it’s about making the team as strong as it can be.
“I know I have to keep working hard on my game, keep looking at ways to improve if I’m to keep challenging for my place in the starting line-up.”
DTH van der Merwe
Canada international DTH van der Merwe joined Glasgow Warriors in the summer of 2009 and penned a new two-year deal in 2011.
Born in South Africa, Daniel Tailliferre Hauman (DTH) van der Merwe began playing at age five. He later made the Boland Under-16 team.
In 2003, the van der Merwe family immigrated to Regina, Canada where DTH attended Dr. Martin Le Boldus High School. He made the Saskatchewan U18, U21 and Rugby Canada Super League Prairie Fire teams.

Holmes helped Western Province win the Vodacom Cup for the first time in 2012, he made 9 appearances and scored 2 tries. He also played his first Super Rugby game later in the season.[2] As a result of a loose forward injury crisis, Holmes debuted against the Lions on 30 June 2012. He started the game in the number 6 jersey and was replaced in the 52nd minute by Tiaan Liebenberg in a 27-17 Stormers win.[3]
After the 2012 Currie Cup Premier Division season, he joined Italian National Championship of Excellence team Petrarca Rugby for one season and then moved to Glasgow Warriors.[4]”

Chris Fusaro signed a new two-year contract with Glasgow in October 2011 that will keep him with the club until at least the end of May 2014.
He initially joined Glasgow Warriors on a two-year deal in March 2010.
Chris has played for Scotland at all three levels from under-18 to under-20 as well as the national sevens squad. His under-19 and under-20 debuts were marked by victories: he was in the team who beat Italy in the under-19 match in February 2008 at Parabagio, and a year later his first international at under-20 was in the 18-17 victory against Wales at McDiarmid Park, Perth, on the opening day of the age group’s Six Nations Championship. He went on to start in all four of the championship’s subsequent matches, scoring a try in the 35-20 win against the Irish, also at the Perth stadium.
In seven-a-side rugby, after playing for the Rugby Ecosse Scotland squad in the Singapore event in October 2007, he went on to be an ever-present for Scotland in the eight tournaments in the IRB’s 2007-2008 world series. In the second of those events (in George, South Africa) his first major-tournament try sent Scotland on the way to victory against Australia by 21-10, a result that helped the Scots into their seventh successive IRB cup quarter-final. In April 2008 he was in the Scottish Thistles’ squad who won the Melrose 125th anniversary sevens. His international seven-a-side career continued with the Scottish Thistles’ squad who won the Shield in the Singapore tournament in November 2008, and he also played for Scotland in the IRB tournaments in Dubai and George before the end of the year.
Early in 2007 Chris was among a group of boys who achieved a notable double in playing for two trophy-winning teams at Murrayfield in eight days – Bell Baxter High School beating Dollar Academy 20-8 in the Bell Lawrie Scottish Schools Cup final, and Howe of Fife winning the SRU Youth League final against Musselburgh by 27-14. He has also played for Scotland under-18 as well as Caledonia under-16, under-17, and under-18, and he was in the Bell Baxter team who won the Scottish Schools under-17 4 x 100m relay championship.
