GHK v Cumbernauld Match Preview
This Saturday sees GHK back in league action after their brave cup exit last weekend. Again this fixture has always proved a tight one and although GHK have won the last 2 outings, neither have achieved a bonus point.
Cumbernauld go into the game on the back of a near half century battering of Bishopton last weekend and currently lie joint 3rd with Strathendrick (who, in this exciting weekend, host Marr). The visitors have lost just 2 games this season - away at Marr and home to GHK but again neither produced a bonus point. Indeed although all the talk this season has been Marr v GHK for the title, 3rd and 4th place lie just 8 points behind the Anniesland men and a 5 point win for both would see that gap narrow to just a solitary win. Cumbernauld therefore have a lot to play for.
The hosts lost their 100% season record to Premier 2 Edinburgh Accies but performed brilliantly and the 21 point game flattered the capital club. As well as going out of the cup, Marr overtook GHK at the top of the table beating Paisley. This left the Troon team 1 point clear however they have played a game more.
GHK though still have not lost in the league and will not be wanting to suffer a major blip by dropping points. If GHK do better than Marr this weekend, they will go back to the top of the pile.
Squad News
A few positional switches in the backs and 2 personnel changes have been made in the backline this week. A new half back partnership of Chas McFarlane and Cammy Little starts with Jaimie Millan moving to the centre. This releases Stuart Hunter to move back to his preferred full back and Chuck McElroy switches to wing. In the pack Fraser McKinven returns from illness and so Stuart Pollock fills the middle row hole vacated by the injured Scott Ferguson. The bench remains the same, minus the aforementioned McFarlane.
