Hawks prepare for the Green Machine

Hawks prepare for opening home match of the new season

Glasgow Hawks welcome Hawick to Old Anniesland for their first home match this season on Saturday. The two sides have just returned to the Premiership having fought out a tight National League title race which the Glasgow men just shaded, whilst the Greens narrowly had the advantage in the head to head matches. With both sides losing their opening games there is a lot to play for on Saturday and there is an expectation that this match will be as thrilling as last season’s encounters.

Hawks coach Jamie Demspey said, “On reflection I felt that we acquitted ourselves well for a team with a young age competitively. I was pleased with our set piece and defensive organisation, where their two tries came from missed tackles as opposed to our system not working to mark the attack. Areas we will need to develop further will be our attacking play, which was a little too obvious at times.”

“Looking forward to Saturday we will welcome Hawick positively as we know they play an excellent form of expansive, dynamic rugby and are well coached by Phil Leck. It should be a cracking game worthy of premiership billing this year after two extremely close games which Hawick shaded last year.”

The match kicks off at Old Anniesland at 3 pm on Saturday 31st August.
