GLASGOW FALL IN CLOSE EUROPEAN MATCH
Posted: 10/Dec/05
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Glasgow lost to Bath by 25-31 in a Heineken Cup match that they could so easily have won. They had to settle for a losing bonus points and the award of the man of the match prize to Dan Parks.

Parks scored 18 of Glasgow’s first half points with a try, two conversions, and three penalty goals. Also, his chip ahead and catch on the run set up the position from which Andrew Henderson scored Glasgow’s other try. More than those, though, Parks earned the prize just as much for his control of the game.

Glasgow, in fact, led from the fifteenth minute to the verge of first-half added time, and at the interval, with the scores level at 23-all, the game was there for either side in the second half. It was Bath who took it, though late in the game with a try by Salesi Finau and a penalty goal by Ollie Barkley. Colin Gregor scored a late penalty goal for Glasgow.

Frikkie Welsh, Michael Stephenson, and Michael Lipman scored Bath’s other tries. Barkley in all kicked three penalty goals and a conversion.
