Garnock 15 Accies 22
This was Accies most complete performance of the season against a good Garnock side who have been very difficult to beat at home over the years. Garnock's 2 tries game from speculative kicks and the luck of the bounce. Both came in the first half with Accies first score coming from some great work up the blind side, firstly from R Chassels and M Hermes, followed by a well exectuted training ground move on the next phase which saw A Wilson put M Hermes into the corner.
In the second half, with confidence up and playing with the slope, Accies dominated the game, with only the odd unforced error giving Garnock a sniff in the Accies half. Much improved decision making from the first half of the season saw the pack pick up from where it left off in the previous game against Kinross whilst the backline looked slick and sharp, finding space on the open, blind and on the counter. R Chassels sliced through from a well worked move off the lineout and space was worked beautifully on the blind side to give C Wright a 40 metre run to the line (both converted). A 40 metre penalty strike in between from Mclaren completed the scoring.
Accies were unlucky not to finish with a bonus point but certainly all the hard work put in during the season is now begining to pay off and if the team continue in this grove bonus points will start to come frequently.
Man of the match: There were a number of impressive performances but this writer would plump for a joint award for the two inside backs S Chassels and A Wilson whose decision making and execution allowed the rest of the team to perform so well.
