On a beautiful afternoon at OA we were pleased to welcome Currie RFC today.
S1 played a very good Currie team and started to gel a bit better up front. Well worked tries were scored by both teams in a match which always meant there wasn't much more than a try between the teams. In the end the Hawks boys just edged it by 16 points to 14. Well done lads.
S2 knew they were in for a game having only just won last season at Malleny Park last season. Today the boys started strongly, taking the game to the visitors, and despite very strong defence went 3 tries up after the 1st 20 minute period.
Utilising the entire squad, we used a large number of substitutions which perhaps broke our rhythm a bit, and with a strong finish from Currie, the S2 lads nevertheless ran out 46-14 (13 tries to 4) winners. A terrific performance from the boys against the strongest team they have faced so far this season.
So a great afternoon's rugby played in the correct manner, finished off with some great catering from our S1 parents upstairs.
Special thanks too to Currie's players, coaches and supporters for coming though to Old Anniesland and we look forward to coming through for the return fixture in March.
