BUILD UP TO SATURDAY UNDERWAY

From ayr website

"Watsonians blew Hawks unbeaten record away with a 17-12 win at Old Anniesland, the league leaders looking lack lustre and not a little complacent but the Ayr coach believes that the defeat will only make then more dangerous when they come to Millbrae on Saturday for what has to be the game of the season.

“They will want to win this one badly” he commented. “They will re-focus for Millbrae because they don’t want another slip up. We will be really up for this one with a full squad to pick from. I think it will be a titanic match and a win for us would be massive, providing a real springboard for our campaign after Christmas.”

“I certainly hope that we will give Hawks their toughest game against Ayr since we came up to BT Premier 1 and we have nothing to lose and everything to play for. We need the whole squad to front up the way they did against Watsonians and if they do that, it will be some game of rugby.”

Indeed it will and with Ayr defending their unbeaten home record and Hawks desperate not to lose two in a row, this will be the sort of match which should provide one of the great games at Millbrae.

That superb result at Meggetland came at the end of a week which saw Ayr pick up a home tie against Selkirk in the fourth round of the BT Cup to be played at Millbrae on January 21st 2006. Ironically, the man who made the draw was Boroughmuir’s Ben Fisher although to spare his blushes, it has to be admitted that he selected the away side.

The mighty Millbrae clash between Ayr and Hawks kicks off at 3pm. Don’t miss it."
