Scottish Rugby is pleased to announce an exciting new award scheme, in conjunction with club rugby sponsor BT, aimed at honouring the labours of Scotland’s rugby clubs.
Already the sponsor of premiership and national league championships and the national cup, BT are keen to extend their support of club rugby through this award and hope it will benefit the development of clubs throughout all divisions.
Each month, a specialist panel will meet to consider each club in three key criteria:
▪ Performance
▪ Fair Play
▪ Growing the game
Each month, the club that has impressed in these key areas will receive a commemorative trophy and £500 prize money.
This initiative will not only promote the importance of playing performances, but that of fair play and the development of the game within the community.
BT Scotland’s head of communications, Alan Bonas said: “BT is very keen to support Scottish rugby on a very local level and have done since 1999. We see this award as an extension of our support of clubs throughout all the divisions.”
Scottish Rugby Union President, Andy Irvine added: “The BT Club of the Month award is a great initiative to encourage Scotland’s clubs to be proactive both on the pitch and off.
“BT have once again extended their invaluable support of the club game in Scotland through the prize money which will be directly invested into Scotland’s winning club each month.”
