Saturday’s RBS Shield Match v Loch Lomond

Saturday sees us once again back in The Trossachs, this time to play Loch Lomond in an RBS Shield match (k/o 3pm – 12.45pm meet at the Clubhouse boys). For those wishing to travel directly, G83 9LY is the postcode of the Beechwood ground for your satnav’s – just 15 miles down the road and 30 minutes travelling time.

And after making a roaring start to their RBS West Div 2 campaign this season with 2 straight (and very handsome!) wins, our opponents appear to have stuttered a bit of late in the league and currently sit in 9th place after 5 games. But this is the Shield and league form cojunts for nought, as we know only too well from bitter experience so maybe this match isn’t going to be the forgone conclusion the bookies think it is.

So it’s clear that this week Coach Coups has gone for a blend of youthful “exuberance”, coupled with a “peppering” of older heads to provide the necessary hand on the tiller in an effort to keep us in the competition. A number of our youngsters and new-comers, who’ve all performed extremely well in training over the past couple of months, are being given their chance this week and it’ll be fascinating to see how they deal with the occasion.
