Whilst Warriors prepare for the second stage of the 1872 Cup they have at their disposal all the benefits of modern training and conditioning
However the Pioneers of this historic contest also took conditioning seriously as the attached photos depict
Several members of the Glasgow XX of 1872 trained fairly hard even by modern standards .I am not sure if many of Warriors current squad would welcome an 11 mile cross country run taking in the northern outskirts of Glasgow
One can only surmise as these pioneers of the Inter City passed by Glasgow's West End Park(Kelvingrove) enroute to the finish at Burnbank did they see another group of young men kicking a football and dreaming of forming a football team --a Club that in 2014 will host the Commonwealth Games Sevens
