On the 3G pitch at Scotstoun today, Hawks ran in 4 tries and 2 conversions against a very strong Stewmell team to complement their narrow win at Inverleith in November.
A great early try from fullback Mark McCourtney was reward for good handling and buildup play from the boys. Converted by Cameron Wray. Another try followed quickly through some terrific play from centre Murray Godsman. The visitors pulled a try back at the halfway stage to make the score 7-3.
The game was played at a furious pace which led to a few handling errors on both sides but Hawks regained their composure in the lead up to winger Marc Rodgers scoring an excellent effort under the posts to allow Wray to convert.
Hawks showed some determined defence during this period and added to their tally through loose head Matthew Johnstone going over to make the score 14-3. With a few minutes to go Stewarts Melville scored a consolation try.
Nb 3 points for a try at this level- 24-10 in real money.
A terrific performance from all the boys today.
