Scotland under19 20, Scottish Exiles under-19 3

Scotland under-19 ran in four tries to nil on the back pitches tonight against Scottish Exiles under-19.

Scotland under-19 head coach Peter Wright said: “We started off pretty slow but we eventually got there with the game plan we were trying to execute, to bring some width to our game.

“We scored four good tries which were taken very well. We worked hard to get the tries and we could have scored another four or five,” he added.

The opening points of the night went to the visitors which were to be their only of the night through a Christopher Oswin penalty.

The Scottish attack was varied and exciting with numerous bursts from Stewart’s Melville FP duo David McCall and Richard Vernon.

Scotland broke into the lead in the 29th minute as McCall and Calum Anderson were involved on their opposite wings for Scotland’s first try, Anderson crossing the line for the score.

The points were to stay at 5-3 at half-time.

Only six minutes back on the field, Daniel Levison ran in Scotland’s second after Hawick back-row forward Nick McTaggart offloaded after shrugging off two tackles within the opposition 22.

The third try of the night came from Richard Vernon only for Tom Watson to have the final word of the night scoring a cracking try as a result of the quick reactions of Pat McArthur to take the final score to 20-3.

Scotland under-19 have now completed their preparations with three wins from three ahead of their first international against Italy in Rome on Thursday 29 December (kick-off 2:30pm local time).
